Summary, etc. To meet demand for broadband, the UK government has published Approved Document R volumes 1 and 2 to set out the requirements for electronic communications networks infrastructure in buildings. Both documents came into force on 26 December 2022

In March 2024 a circular about new buildings over 18m requiring two staircases was published, changes effective 30 September 2026

Summary, etc. Approved Document T was added in May 2024 and provides technical guidance on the design and layout of universal toilets, ambulant toilets and toilet cubicles requirements in Part T to the Building Regulations. Approved Document T applies to new buildings other than dwellings and buildings undergoing a material change of use.
