Abstract RICS, in partnership with Confidencial Imobiliario, produces the Portuguese Housing Market Survey, a sentiment survey that collects and analyses the opinions of professionals in agency and development about the prices, availability and demand of residential property in three areas of the country: Greater Lisbon, Greater Oporto and the Algarve. <br/>The August 2024 RICS/Ci PHMS results (there was no report for July 2024) continue to reflect a <br/>market in a relatively flat state, with buyer activity remaining <br/>stagnant and the number of new instructions coming to market still <br/>weak. Despite muted current conditions, expectations remain a <br/>little more upbeat across both the sales and lettings market. <br/>With respect to new buyer enquiries, the indicator has posted <br/>a net balance of -2% which is a less negative than the results <br/>across the previous two months. For agents in particular, the <br/>latest net balance of –3% is significantly less downbeat that the <br/>average reading seen throughout 2024 so far. On the supply side, <br/>the headline net balance for new instructions remains largely in <br/>negative territory at -20%, almost identical to the figures for the <br/>preceding two months.
