It was held that a tenant, unlawfully evicted, had the choice of accepting an offer of reinstatement or pressing for damages under Housing Act 1988 s27 ; and in this case anyway the offer of a new key to the tenant`s ransacked room did not constitute an offer of reinstatement. Also considers whether damages for unlawful eviction should be reduced if an offer of reinstatement has been made before proceedings for damages are commenced.
