The Government is considering abandoning the law which requires local authorities to provide sites for gypsies. A DoE consultation paper on the Caravan Sites Act 1968 is to be published in the Autumn and is expected to propose rejection of much or all of the Act which makes it compulsory for local authorities to provide sites for all gypsies living in their area. |
