520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Discusses the concept of turnover rentals which originated in the USA . Post-war changes in retailing in this country, culminating in the consumer boom of the 1960s, saw a steady acceptance of turnover rents . Once units had been let, however, many owners returned to fixed rentals. With the present trend for refurbishment of the 1960s and 1970s shopping centres , this article examines new information which has been made available as property companies have realised the improved quality of shopping centres developed and let on the turnover basis. Looks at funding , profitability of individual traders, co-operation from the retailer and the future of such schemes.
