Summary, etc. "Axa Equity & Law Life Assurance Society plc v Wootton and others" ChD 27 February 1997. Landlord granted lease to partners in a solicitor`s firm. Lease contained term that retiring partners be exempt from obligations under the lease. One partner gave notice of intention to retire. The remaining partners gave joint notice to retire later on same day. Decision whether or not partners had retired and firm was dissolved and therefore were still liable for lease. Judgment for the landlord.
