The Govan Initiative aims to create a partnership between regional, district and central government and private enterprise to revitalise the area which still has economic potential. The Initiative`s principle target is the economy although it does not ignore housing and social problems. Its major prestige project is the Glasgow Garden Festival due to openin 1988.
