| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Argues that PFI projects can greatly benefit from adopting the principles of the Egan report and following in the footsteps of the Local Government Construction Task Force (LGCTF) projects programme. Explains the rationale behind the Egan Report, and illustrates how LGCTF and PFI already share many common principles: innovative approach to procurement and construction projects via local authorities; focus on long term strategy, costs and benchmarking; promotion of working relationships between the private and public sector; delivery of best value. Although PFI does not currently operate under the Egan objectives, many private construction companies are adopting the themes of innovation and best practice so as to benefit from cost savings, enhanced quality finish and increased customer satisfaction.
