520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Design-and-build (DB) projects are known to achieve better performance than design-bid-build (DBB) projects. However, the use of DB is still not widespread in many countries. A survey was carried out to find out why clients in Singapore, are not procuring more projects using DB. This survey was compared with a survey conducted among DB contractors in Singapore. It was found that clients did not procure more projects based on DB because they felt that they needed to bear more risks, DB projects do not have price certainty nor high quality and maintenance issues are not considered in DB projects; nor did the DB contractors agree with the clients' views. Therefore, the article concludes, contractors should try to convince the clients of the price certainty, the high quality of DB projects and the level of maintenance considered in DB projects.
