| Summary, etc. | ChD 26 February 1987 An originating summons by the tenants claiming a new tenancy of a ground floor and basement of premises in Oxford St under Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 Part II . There was no question as to the tenants` entitlement to the new tenancy, the issues being as to the length of the term and the rent. This judgement dealt only with the length of the term . The tenants had asked in their summons for a 14-year term but agreed that a shorter term might be appropriate. The landlords suggested six months. The landlord had given notice to end the tenancy on the grounds of an alleged delay in paying rent, but this was not relied on and there was no other ground for resistance to the new tenancy stated. Somewhat late in the day the landlords contended that possession was required for a subsidiary company but evidence of the intention was sketchy.
