Summary, etc. Provided particular documentary evidence is supplied, the New York Convention 1958 provides that a foreign arbitration award can be enforced. Details of the evidence required are set out in article IV of the Convention, and are reproduced in the English Arbitration Act 1996 s102. They have also been set out in the Hong Kong Ordinance s43. Discusses "Medison Co Ltd v Victor (Far East) Ltd", which dealt with the enforcement of a South Korean arbitration award in Hong Kong. The decision includes important observations on the role of the enforcing court, and thus has implications for other countries.
