Summary, etc. The Countryside Agency has started work on a desk-based mapping of England's "open country" and registered common land area. The first two areas to be mapped will be the North West and South East, and the first draft maps are due to be published for consultation in autumn 2001. The aim is for the new rights to be in place by 2005.
