Summary, etc. It has been argued that economic restructuring and changes in companies` behaviour are giving rise to new types of industrial accommodation. The paper examines first the theoretical assumptions on which this view has been based before going on to present the results of a survey of 83 science parks and high tech development s and their occupiers, concentrating particularly on the characteristics of the occupiers. Finally, the theoretical perspectives are combined with the empirical evidence and the implications for the use of industrial accommodation are considered. Tables. References.
