| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Latest research, "Connectivity 2001" from King Sturge and H+H Marketing is based on a survey, in its fifth year, of 71 building occupiers. The survey aims to monitor internet usage, the demand for increased bandwidth and attempts to establish how attractive buildings that offer internet access are to potential occupiers. The findings show the index of connectivity - an indication of the speed at which net connections are made - increasing by over 600% over the last two years as the occupiers search for better access speeds. The demand for high speed connections within properties is outstripping supply. Despite rapid growth in average access speeds, the survey records the highest level of dissatisfaction yet: 67% are unhappy with access speeds and 58% will need to upgrade in the near future. The research suggests that there is a growing demand for landlords to offer high bandwidth connections as part of the building package and that any shortfall in provision will begin to have more of an effect on location and value. |
