Summary, etc. Discusses a 24 week experiment, conducted in Australia, which sought to determine the effect of first aid training on the occupational health and safety behaviour of participants in small business construction firms. Describes the sampling strategy, the experiment design, and the performance measurement techniques. The latter included objective measurement of occupational health and safety behaviour by a researcher, who directly observed participants in the workplace before and after their first aid training. Discusses the results, which proved mixed. Performance improved in three of the four categories of safety performance measured. Overall, the results suggest first aid training has a positive effect on occupational health and safety behaviour in the categories of personal protective equipment and housekeeping.
