These property types are diverse in their physical characteristics, but the valuation approach for an operator's interest is similar. Looks at valuations based on trading potential. Presents, and discusses, a spreadsheet-based valuation model based on a typical example commonly used by US firm Cushman and Wakefield. In contrast to the situation in the UK, the self-storage industry in the US is mature, and properties are regularly traded. Thus, the valuation approach presented has been well-tested.
