A group of farmers want to adopt more sustainable farming methods by expanding the woodlands on their land to give shelter for their animals and provide their businesses with a supply of home-grown wood to boost incomes. Briefly discusses the Shelterwoods Project due to be launched in November 2001, which will provide grants to help farmers establish new woodlands. The project has gained EU funds under the Objective One programme.
