| Summary, etc. | Friends of the Earth (FoE) have published a report which finds that pollution caused by traffic is worse in deprived areas. FoE warns that transport policies should be revised to address the links between transport and social exclusion. The group is urging local authorities to take on the problem by mapping transport impacts and using local transport plans (LTPs) to draw up policies to help poorer areas. FoE also wants government to make social exlusion a priority, on a national level, when it reviews its ten-year transport plan. The full report "Environmental justice - mapping transport and social exclusion in Bradford" can be viewed at: http://www.foe.co.uk/campaigns/transport/resource/campaigners.html#map |
