Chartered surveyors reported the first decline in construction workloads since the beginning of 1996. Workload, employment and profit expectations have all deteriorated. However, the latest survey from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply indicates UK construction industry activity increased in December 2001 at a faster pace than in November.
