Summary, etc. The Neighbourhood Renewal Unit is planning to award a research contract in May 2002 to revise and update government's "Indices of deprivation 2000". The indices use a number of indicators such as income, employment, housing and access to services to identify the most deprived wards and boroughs in England. The updated indices should be available by 2003, and will also include indicators on the physical environment and crime.
