RICS has launched its second in-depth look at the housing sector, "housing the nation" and it shows how the sector has changed over the last ten years. The "housing manifesto" also compares the UK with the rest of Europe and finds that the UK sector is behind on investment to replace its housing stock. The manifesto makes a number of potential solutions to these problems, including implementation of the 'Egan' agenda, more use of IT in the supply chain, promotion of construction as a career and making more use of international models. Also discusses possibility and policy of neighbourhood regeneration and housing finance arrangements.
