Summary, etc. This second of two articles considers how the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002 makes it easier to extend leases on flats and to purchase the freehold of houses. Concludes that second home owners and company tenants who have been unable to fulfil the residency condition will principally benefit from the changes brought about by the new act. Once it is in force more leaseholders will qualify for a lease extension on a flat or the freehold of a house.
