Summary, etc. Reports that Control of asbestos at work regulations were laid in House of Commons on 31 October 2002. Regulations mean there will be a duty on anyone with maintenance and repair responsibilities of workplaces to assess whether they contain asbestos and if so whether it presents a risk. They will then be responsible for its future handling. Part of regulations come into force 21 days after this date, and duty to manage will be enforced in 18 months time.
