Summary, etc. The Local Government Association (LGA) and the Countryside Agency have called jointly on the government to change its housing policies to give enough consideration to the needs of rural communities. A fairer framework for allocating housing resources is required and current indicators used to assess the allocation must be made more precise. The lack of suitable, affordable housing is one of the biggest barriers to keeping rural communities sustainable.
