Summary, etc. In July 2003, EuroGeographics, the association of European National Mapping Agencies, launched the first release of the EuroGlobalMap (EGM) dataset. EGM is a digital topographic dataset which covers Europe at a scale of 1.1m. It is seamless and harmonised data, produced in co-operation by the national data mapping agencies of Europe, using official national databases. The production of the dataset was co-funded by the European Commission (eContent). The first release contains six themes; administrative boundaries; hydrography; transport; settlements; elevation and; named location (geographical names). [Taken from journal headnote].
