Summary, etc. Examines the groundbreaking provisions of the Land Registration Act 2002, which came into force on 13 October 2003, in respect of the future development of land registration, the expansion of public information about all property interests and the move towards e-conveyancing. The Act represents the first complete overhaul of registered conveyancing law since 1925 and the largest single item of law reform undertaken by the Law Commisssion since its inception in 1965. Focuses on the treatment of lease registration, the introduction of an open register for leases and mortgages, the issues of adverse possession, boundaries, the Crown's new right to register its landholdings, the abolition of land and charge certificates, the transition period for prescribed forms, the appointment of an adjudicator to HM Land Registry, the termination of registered estates and notices and addresses for service.
