Government is changing the categorisation of restaurants, pubs and takeaways. Previously they have had the same classification making it possible for them to change into one of the other uses without planning permission. The aim is to help local authorities create the correct balance of business on the high street through sensible development rather than one that can have a negative impact on the local quality of life.
