Summary, etc. Discusses the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 Reg 4 which came into force on 21 May 2004. It updates the existing regulations by introducing a duty on all property owners, landlords, tenants, surveyors and managing agents to manage and control asbestos in business properties. Points out the duties under Reg 4, which include establishing whether the property contains asbestos and keeping a record of the location, quantity and condition of asbestos that has been found. The new regulations are likely to be vigorously enforced by HSE inspectors who will carry out regular visits and conduct checks on the management plans.
