Summary, etc. Investigates the world of large area 3D city models generated using photogrammetry or laser scanning, focusing in particular on the photo-realistic textured 3D city models created from aerial imagery by CyberCity AG through a semi-automatic procedure using in-house developed software modules called CC-Modeler. These city models are primarily used for applications in urban planning, architectural visualisation, real estate and tourism marketing and electronic entertainment. Looks also at ArcGIS (ESRI), which manages large 3D city model datasets and Map2day at a web-based GIS service with interaction between a 2D city map and 3D visualisation. Figures show CC-Modeler and other output.
