520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Reports on market research carried out on behalf of the Council of Mortgage Lenders by BMRB, in November 2004, into attitudes towards home-ownership, moving and in particular exploring what might encourage or discourage UK households today. Looks first at aspirations for home-ownership in general and by age and then at the home-ownership gap between the long-term desire to own and the current home-ownership rate. Examines specifically the characteristics of those in the two-year home-ownership gap. Considers the factors that encourage households to buy or discourage them from buying. Concludes that the group most likely to purchase a new home in the next two years is households that either work full-time, have incomes over £50 000 p.a. or live in London or southeastern England. The analysis on moving indicates that house prices, incomes and interest rate expectations are the current drivers of households moving into and within home-ownership. Charts. References.
