The index showed a one-month total return of 1.3% in April, the strongest return so far in 2005. Yields continued to fall while rental values rose slightly by 0.1%, increasing capital values by 0.8%. In the calendar year to date figures stand at 4%, down from 4.7% returns this time last year. Retail property regained the top spot in April with 1.4% returns. The industrial total returns index reached 1 000.12 in April, the first sector ever to have crossed the 1 000 threshold. Equity markets performed poorly in April with -2.3% returns. Graphs and table.
