There are some exceptions to this rule. Foreign investors can also form a Romanian company to obtain the land. Mortgages are now available to non-residents. Most Romanian apartments are managed and maintained by an association of residents. Foreign buyers should beware being quoted inflated prices or verbal agreements which are then withdrawn. Working through a reputable agent with a presence in Romania and English-speaking staff will help to avoid many of the potential problems.
