520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. For the property services market, the Legal Services Act 2007 is likely to have the following two effects on the profession: 1, the further commoditisation of residential conveyancing; and 2, the joining together of professionals to create "onestop shops" for the provision of property services. The Legal Services Act 2007 allows non-lawyers to invest in law firms for the first time, opening the way for the commoditisation of legal services. The author considers the possible impact on the property market of the so-called "Tesco law", with the Legal Services Act 2007 likely to become law in autumn 2010. The most significant change was the opening of the way for the introduction of Legal Disciplinary Practices (LDPs) and Multi-Disciplinary Practices (MDPs), probably in 2011. LDPs will offer solely legal services (in their many guises), whereas MDPs will offer a range of professional services. More significantly, for the first time, the Act allows non-lawyers to invest in law firms.
