The Investment Property Forum has issued guidelines to professionals offering advice to small private investors tempted into the commercial property market by a new range of financial products available in 2004. The guide has been funded by the Investment Property Forum Educational Trust, the British Property Federation and RICS with additional information from relevant bodies on specialist subjects. Acknowledges the need for advisers to understand the attributes of commercial property as an investment class and the mechanics of the market. Also required is an overview of the commonly available product structures, insights into associated risks, tax implications and regulatory considerations.
