A statistical report collating information from various surveys on diversification. Explains the differences between them and examines the statistical definition of diversification. Sources included are the annual June "Agriculture and horticulture census", the "Farm business survey", the "Farm diversification benchmarking study" and the "Survey of personal incomes". Shows that diversification earnings in England exceeded £100 m for the first time and found that over half of full-time farmers have diversified and that average earnings in 2002/03 from diversification were £1 800 per farm, a rise of 30% on the previous year.
