This volume of the "Survey of London", English Heritage's detailed architectural and topographical study, describes buildings south of the Thames between the site of the present South Bank centre and Vauxhall Bridge (many which have been demolished or rebuilt), explaining how they came into being and outlining their significance and historical associations. This earlier volume is highly selective and includes few buildings erected after 1800. Includes photographs and maps together with plans, sections and elevations of selected buildings.
