Originally developed in 1915, this standard is a building-wide method of measurement and has been revised to allow spaces that benefit all the building occupants to be measured and allocated on a pro-rata basis. The standard has been revised to include changes in office designs and introduces and illustrates concepts such as floor usable area, floor rentable area, floor common area and building common area.
