Agreement for simple building works without complex building service installations or other specialist work. The contract can be used where fairly detailed contact provisions are necessary and the employer is to provide the contractor with drawings and bills of quantities, a specification or work schedules defining the quantity and quality of the work and where there is a contract administrator and quantity surveyor to administer the conditions. It is suitable for projects which are to be carried out in sections, for private and local authority employers and where provisions are required to cover named specialists. If the contractor is to design discrete parts of the works the JCT Intermediate Building Contract With Contractor's Design (2005 Edition) should be used.
