Summary: Reports on the results of uniaxial compression tests carried out on concrete prisms of various grades. Volumetric strain was calculated by measuring axial and lateral strains. Applied stress at minimum volume was compared with the long-term strength of concrete under sustained loading. Results were also used to investigate the power curve for stress-strain relationships. Simple formulae for initial stiffness and Poisson's ratio were obtained.
