Online resources: Summary: Following the 2006 Energy Review the UK government announced a number of proposals for changes to the Renewables Obligation (RO). These changes would provide differentiated support levels to different renewables technologies and give additional certainty on long-term Renewable Obligation Certificate prices. These changes to the RO will require new primary legislation and so will not be introduced until towards the end of this decade at the earliest. The Government has now published a consultation document on these proposals. In addition to these longer term changes the consultation document contains proposals for a small number of more limited and detailed changes to the Renewables Obligation legislation that it is proposed to bring into force for 1 April 2007.
