Summarises findings of a study by Newcastle University into population movements within British cities. It examines population movements within the 27 largest cities during the year prior to the 2001 census. Greater detail is examined within three city areas. A lower rate of loss is noted than in the latter part of the 20th century. However many of these cities are continuing to lose people. Outside of London most cities were unsuccessful in attracting the key professional and managerial groups.
