Interim guidance note aimed at assisting interpretation of Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) ratings when applied to historic or traditional homes. These form part of the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). SAP ratings are calculations, and metered readings should be preferred whenever possible. SAPs are required for new homes or homes sold and requiring a Home Information Pack (which include an EPC). Explains the SAP rating and banding system in use. Historic buildings are often outside of the assumptions made by SAP in terms of shape, materials and exact measurements. Feedback from public and Domestic Energy Assessors on the document is welcomed.
