Finds that the Scottish residential market outperformed the UK market in terms of price inflation since 2003. Over 68% of Edinburgh's households are now owner occupiers. The figure is 48% in Glasgow, where development opportunities are currently extensive. Glasgow is enjoying considerable investment as a result of its bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, adding to the already strong momentum for urban regeneration. Drivers include low interest rates, right to buy, wealth generation and a large commuter workforce. Considers why the quality of design and build is slipping down the UK agenda.
