Considers how the planning white paper "Planning for a sustainable future" (L138208) impacts on Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs). Proposes changes to the Town and Country Planning (Trees) Regulations 1999, aimed at streamlining TPO-related procedures. Proposes that notices should only be sent to owners and occupiers of land where the trees are situated; that there should be a standard form for pruning and felling applications; that appeals against TPO decisions be determined on the basis of the authority's information and a site visit; and that appeal decisions be taken by Planning Inspectorate appointed Inspectors. Responses are due by 19 February 2008.
