Reveals world construction spending increased by only 3% in 2007, compared with nearly 5% growth in 2006, due to the weak US construction market and residential sector. Growth across the rest of the world was nearly 4%, only slightly down from 2006. The markets of Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia experienced the strongest demand in 2007, whereas other regional markets were quieter. In terms of short and medium term growth prospects, China is ranked first, followed by India, Russia and the UAE. The survey identifies construction market trends at the regional, national and metropolitan level across Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Australasia, Europe, and the Middle East.
