Summary: This conference paper looks at rural land as a property asset class and carries out a detailed analysis of rural production and land prices in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. The period covered is 1990-2005 and the authors compare capital returns and total returns perfomance, allowing for a comparison between farm land returns for both subsidised and non-subsidised policies.
