Flooding and its impact on property -- What happens post flooding -- Review of existing guidance -- Methodology -- Results and findings -- Use of guidance and being prepared for the next major flood event -- Conclusions and recommendations
Summary: Recent flooding in the UK has put demands on the damage management industry in returning flood damaged properties back to habitable condition. Services provided by the damage management community have faced criticism and a need for investigation of the literature on the subject became apparent. As a result of this review, 26 factors were identified and included in a survey of damage management companies to gather opinions on their state of preparedness for the next major flood event. Survey results indicate that damage management companies see themselves as performing well in all areas and are fully prepared for the inevitable next major flood event. Interviews with flood damage experts, on the other hand, provided conflicting results.
