UK house prices fell by 5.3% in the quarter ending October 2008, compared with a fall of 1.6% in the quarter ending July 2008. Average house prices fell by 4.5% in Scotland, England (7.3%); Wales (7.8%) and Northern Ireland (20.5%). Annual average house prices paid by first time buyers in August 2008 were 9.7% lower than a year ago. House prices paid by former owner occupiers were 6.6% lower.
