This report was commissioned by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to explore the costs and benefits of World Heritage Site (WHS) status for historical sites in the UK. The methodology for the report encompasses a literature review, cost/benefit analyses for seventeen WHS sites and case studies for a further six sites. Members of the public were also consulted, so as to gather information on public perceptions of the subject.
