From October to December 2008, there were around 16,300 new house building starts in England, down by 58% compared with the same quarter in 2007. An estimate of 32,300 houses was completed, representing a fall of 25% compared to the same quarter in 2007. For 2008, the estimate for house building starts is 105,000, a 37% decline compared with 2007.The figure for completions for the same period is 141,900 and corresponds to a decrease of 19% from 2007.
